Element: graphic_window.plot_scale

Type

numeric

Description

The plot scale for graphic_window. This is the scale at which the image in graphic_window is expected to be drawn on a plotter via plot meta-file output (produced by the dump command).

For example, a required scale of 1:10 should be indicated by a plot_scale value of 0.1.

The plot scale of a window is not relevant during screen display of graphics unless the model is a combination of graphic primitives measured in modelling units and primitives defined with "actual size" dimensions.

This "actual size" is the size seen when plotted, not the size on the screen (unless the plot_scale is 0). The system must therefore know what scale is to be used at plot time so that it can display "actual size" primitives correctly relative to modeling units primitives.

New windows have a default plot scale of 0, i.e. undefined. This is changed to 1 if a dump of the window is attempted.
